Isaiah 22:15-22

New International Version

¹⁵This is what the Lord, the Lord Almighty, says:

“Go, say to this steward,
    to Shebna^(A) the palace^(B) administrator:^(C)
¹⁶What are you doing here and who gave you permission
    to cut out a grave^(D) for yourself^(E) here,
hewing your grave on the height
    and chiseling your resting place in the rock?

¹⁷“Beware, the Lord is about to take firm hold of you
    and hurl^(F) you away, you mighty man.
¹⁸He will roll you up tightly like a ball
    and throw^(G) you into a large country.
There you will die
    and there the chariots^(H) you were so proud of
    will become a disgrace to your master’s house.
¹⁹I will depose you from your office,
    and you will be ousted^(I) from your position.^(J)

²⁰“In that day^(K) I will summon my servant,^(L) Eliakim^(M) son of Hilkiah. ²¹I will clothe him with your robe and fasten your sash^(N) around him and hand your authority^(O) over to him. He will be a father to those who live in Jerusalem and to the people of Judah. ²²I will place on his shoulder^(P) the key^(Q) to the house of David;^(R) what he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.^(S)

The Father Revealed in the Son^(A)

²⁵At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father,^(B) Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.^(C) ²⁶Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.

²⁷“All things have been committed to me^(D) by my Father.^(E) No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.^(F)

²⁸“Come to me,^(G) all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.^(H) ²⁹Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,^(I) for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.^(J) ³⁰For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”^(K)
